LA County health department turns off social media replies, says account is for ‘informational purposes’ only

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Wellness turned off the ability for social media end users to reply to its posts, and explained in a Sunday statement that its social media accounts are for “informational functions only.”

“This account is now for informational functions only and, for that reason, community responses are minimal to dwell ‘town hall’ style functions it conducts wherein it solicits issues from the community for the duration of the reside event. After these kinds of functions are concluded, the Section will then close the reside event submit to general public remarks. Other posts will continue to be shut to general public remarks,” the tweet reads.

The section also stated that citizens can send a immediate information if they have any thoughts.

“People who have issues or are wanting for assistance can mail a direct information and Public Wellness will reply as shortly as doable,” the tweet states.

The Los Angeles County Department of General public Health started to turn off the replies to its tweets on July 28, as well as the capacity for customers to comment on its Fb and Instagram posts.

In a statement to FOX 11 at the time, a spokesperson for the division mentioned that the capacity for buyers to comment on its social media posts have been disabled immediately after acquiring worries about harassment.

“General public Wellness has zero tolerance for threats, bullying or harassment on any of our platforms and designed the determination to disable social media feedback immediately after getting issues from quite a few residents who had been getting focused,” the spokesperson reported. “People who want to share their thoughts with General public Overall health can continue to do so by sending direct messages to our accounts.”

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Section of General public Health advised Fox Information Digital it has no even further comment on the determination.
