Outrage mounts in D.C. after man fatally shoots boy, 13, he suspected was breaking into cars

Karon Blake of Northeast Washington was killed Saturday, Metropolitan Police explained.

Law enforcement found Karon with obvious gunshot wounds as they responded to a report of a capturing just right before 4 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Quincy Road NE. Karon was taken to a hospital and died just after lifesaving attempts, officers said. 

Detectives decided that a gentleman in a nearby residence claimed he experienced “heard noises and observed somebody that appeared to be tampering with vehicles.”

The man went outside with a registered firearm to examine and had an “interaction” with Karon. 

“During the conversation, the male resident discharged his firearm placing the victim,” law enforcement mentioned.
