To Give:
I’m always happy to receive a small, bright item for my apartment—I’m hoping those on my list will feel the same about a pretty new plate or cushion.
To Get:
I’m hoping for some lively, easy-to-wear pieces this holiday season, like a floral necklace and dress or walkable black shoes.
Virginia Smith, Global Head of Fashion Network
To Give:
You can always celebrate the holiday season with these beautiful Champagne coupes from La DoubleJ. And for the friend who’s been through a rough patch, this blanket will be a comfort.
To Get:
Eyeing these Rose de la Cruz earrings—I mean, a girl can hope! I’m also obsessed with these retro skates that take me back to my roller rink birthday parties. This is a slipper that no one would mind getting. And socks, but make it fashion!
Rickie De Sole, Executive Fashion Director, Vogue.com
To Give:
I love gifting things I know friends do not generally buy for themselves—Sophie Bille Brahe’s velvet jewelry box and Smythson’s travel diary certainly both fit the bill!
To Get:
Sartorially speaking, nothing makes me feel quite as festive as slipping on a jewel-toned velvet dress. It’s a tried and true holiday staple that I’ll be bringing back out this season!
Chioma Nnadi, Editor of Vogue.com
To Give:
At some point during the early days of the pandemic, I got hooked on eye masks—trust me, the quality of your sleep will improve overnight! And what could be better than the gift of a good night’s sleep? Canvas tote bags are fine, but nothing makes you stand out at the grocery store than a chic knitted bag. I love that these ones by Lastframe are so light and easy to travel with too. I mean even Santa must get tired of schlepping around difficult-to-carry gifts, no?
To Get:
I love gifts that have a sense of humor, and just looking at these watermelon bowls makes me smile. There’s a Harry Styles joke in there somewhere! I think after all those months of wearing sweatpants, the best fashion gift to get or receive, is undoubtedly a pretty dress—eyeing this one from Batsheva! I love jeans a ton, but it takes a lot for me to deviate from my vintage Levi’s. This pair by Bianca Saunders comes with the kind of wow factor that would be fun to unpack. There’s nothing more smile-inducing than a great party shoe and with their lucite heels, these silver Bottega heels are about as fun as it gets. Personally, I think Paco’s metallic bags work for any time of day—I basically wore a silver variation on this style all summer, even to the beach!
Julie Tong, Senior Commerce Editor
To Give:
I recently bought Chopova Lowena’s alphabet necklace for myself, and I think it would make an excellent gift for anyone you still need to shop for on your list. The price point is hard to beat and the personal monogram touch is an added bonus too! Winter essentials are a go-to gift for a reason, this Loewe scarf and pair of Gucci gloves are perfect for the fashion lover who loves practicality too. And for the woman who seemingly has it all, Charlotte Chesnais’s elegant pearl earring is hard to disappoint.
To Get:
This holiday season, I’m looking to upgrade my winter wardrobe with elevated staples that can take me from day to night. Altuzarra’s tie-dye printed crepe dress is perfect for a day at the office, but with a quick addition of Attico’s sleek tuxedo blazer, I’m in business for a night of cocktails and soirees. I’ve been focused on investing only in handbags that I know will last and have been keeping a close eye on Tanner Krolle’s emerald Annabel 18 box bag. Not only is it inspired by the original style worn by Princess Diana, it’s effortlessly chic for all occasions. Many who are close to me know I have a soft spot for monogrammed pieces. Mateo’s initial diamond ring is an heirloom in the making, I hope to make it mine this year!
Mark Holgate, Fashion News Director
To Give:
For a small gesture: Summerill and Bishop Peter Max stylish napkins (Or less small: the matching tablecloth). For something more grand: A Colville Murano vase which looks like a bowling ball! And lastly, a lipstick red YSL—most people would buy the sensible and chic black one for themselves so gift the one that goes all out with color.
To Get:
I am a sad individual who likes getting things like socks and slippers! Especially these shearling men’s ones from Inabo. And who wouldn’t want to recover wrapped in this knit blanket from Jonathan Saunders’s new label Saunders?
Sarah Spellings, Fashion News Editor
To Give:
Not everyone will appreciate the charm of a set of four artichoke plates, but those whimsical beings who do will use them time and again. Imagine a beautiful slice of cake set against that gorgeous shade of green. And who wouldn’t be thrilled to receive a pair of slipper-shoes? They’re a perfect “what to get for the person who doesn’t want anything” present.
To Get:
The perfect gift is something that the recipient would adore, but would never buy for themselves. Your responsibility as Santa is to put your disposable income towards something you know your loved one would never shell out for on their own budget. This could be something as simple as a bag of really good pick-and-mix Swedish candy, or as decadent as opera-length Jil Sander cream leather gloves. They’re semi-practical (everyone needs gloves, right?) while also being totally glamorous. Give them to the person in your life who fancies themselves a modern Audrey Hepburn… or a Taurus like myself. And also, here is proof that even the most quotidian objects can be gorgeous—a coffee pot that looks like it belongs in a gallery. Wouldn’t it brighten up your morning to look at those clean lines?
Nicole Phelps, Global Vogue Runway Director
To Give:
New Balance trainers for my 13-year-old son Nik, who can never have enough sneakers. Cashmere gloves for my sister who spends her weekends on the playground with her young boys.
To Get:
I’ve been thinking about only buying vintage and secondhand this holiday season. Marine Serre’s upcycled patchwork dress fits my style and those parameters. And for tequila shots with my husband, I love La DoubleJ designer JJ Martin’s colorful view of the world. For the bathroom, now that friends are coming for visits again. I’ve always wanted Missoni bath towels.
Chloe Malle, Contributor
To Give:
They say camels are grumpy but this hand-painted tin tray will only make its recipient smile. Ideal for cocktails or tea depending on one’s mood. The perfect gift for the oenophile in your life that you’re too scared to actually pick a bottle of wine for. My mother loves to eat ice cream with an espresso spoon so these candy-colored Venetian glass ones would be the perfect gift. The perfect gift for the hostess who never leaves her home. I wear these velvet furlanes inside and out.
To Get:
What a dream to receive these Murano glass nut bowls from LaDoubleJ, the colors are festive for holiday but work any time of year. I’d never have a lonely almond again! These DoubleJ rainbow Murano glasses would be my dream gift to receive. Neither water nor wine would ever be boring again!
Madeline Fass, Market Editor
To Give:
At $34 a pop, you can gift each of your friends this sweet pearl dotted ring from Hermina Athens. It also happens to be the ideal size for a stocking stuffer. Meanwhile, Marni’s fuzzy stripe sweater or Helle Mardahl’s charming candy-colored cocktail glass are two gifts that would make anyone smile
To Get:
Practically speaking, I’d love to upgrade my wallet to this Loewe and add the type of black boot I’ll want to wear every day to my closet this year from Neous. However, I’ve been eyeing Bea Bongiasca’s disco rings and JW Anderson’s chain-adorned mules this year, plus Cawley Studio’s moss-striped rug. All of which are at the top of my list. When it comes to party dressing, feathers are always a good idea. Or simply add a festive accessory to your go-to looks, like a crawling pearl drop earring or stand-out metallic shoe.
Lilah Ramzi, Features & Commerce Editor
To Give:
All of my loved ones deserve nothing but the best. So this means glassware from Lobmeyr and L’Objet’s pretty little bowl.
To Get:
I’m a sucker for a velvet dress and this version by Duncan has my name on it in bold letters. For my dressier occasions, Khaite’s draped gown will do just wonderfully. I’ll finish off the look with some golden heels from Ferragamo and a caged bag from Rosantica. These are just a few of the things I’ve been eyeing.
Alexis Bennett, Commerce Writer
To Give:
Practical presents are always a smart move. But if you really want to win the gift-giving season, wrap up a luxe pair of socks—like this bow-embellished Gucci gem. Little luxuries always save the day. This Saint Laurent belt doubles as a wear-everywhere wardrobe staple and an impressive gift that’s sure to bring joy. Unique, one-of-a-kind presents similar to Tina Vaia’s handcrafted, ceramic vases will leave even the most persnickety individuals fascinated. No matter what’s on the menu, these gold-gilded plates by French pâtisserie Ladurée and Milan-based label La DoubleJ are sure to make a lasting impression.
To Get:
To me, there’s no better feeling than ending the day in a sumptuous pair of pajamas, and Olivia Von Halle’s satin nighties are among the best.
Elise Taylor, Senior Living Editor
To Give:
Give these cheeky—literally—bookends as a holiday hostess gift, because every home needs some humor. An elevated card set is a gift that can be given to anyone—your solitaire-loving grandma, your poker-playing father, your drinking game-loving nephew, or even as a hostess gift for a family comprised of all three.
To Get:
Are these shoes meant for a bride? Probably! But I strive for wedding-level attention, like, every day, so, I have no problem wearing these pearl-embellished Jimmy Choos on a Tuesday. My literary idol Oscar Wilde once said “Nothing succeeds like excess.” I use this as an excuse to wear anything and everything, with feathers—like this 16Arlington brocade mini dress.
Laird Borrelli-Persson, Archive Editor
To Give:
For my Swedish husband a T-shirt from Undercover featuring artwork by Markus Åkesson—who I had the pleasure of interviewing for Vogue. The perfect gift wrapping: MM6 Maison Margiela’s ribbon-tied sweater.
To Get:
This red dress is the coziest and most festive I’ve found—and it’s from one of the designers I’m most excited about, Petar Petrov. And Acne Studios’ micro Musubi bag in red, is the only ornament I need.
Rachel Besser, Market Editor
To Give:
Upgrade their AM routine with a Yoga kit made perfect for movement, breathing, meditating, and everything in between. JW Anderson’s backless clogs are as practical as they are aesthetically pleasing. Keep them by the door to quickly slip on for running errands, wear them around the house for a stylish upgrade to tried-and-true slippers, pair them with dresses for a more casual look, or wear them to the office!
To Get:
I’ve just moved back to New York City thereby turning my attention towards all things home goods as I get my new place set up. La DoubleJ’s set of pretty, colorful champagne coupes gets me excited for hosting again. A wear-everywhere bag that isn’t black or too demure can be hard to find. This denim iteration of the classic Gucci Jackie 1961 feels both nostalgic, nodding to the noughties, yet simultaneously quite classic. A cozy hat is a wintertime must-have for all. This cashmere bucket hat makes for a warm and stylish winter accessory upgrade.
Daisy Shaw-Ellis, Jewelry Director
To Give:
A classic pearl stud may already be in many’s jewelry box, but a modern drop version will be a fabulous addition and a twist on a classic that truly dresses up every outfit. Everyone loves slippers. The bonus of these is that they have a recycled rubber sole, so they’re durable and chic enough to wear outside. I love giving games over the holidays, they immediately bring people together.
To Get:
I am a big lover of rings. Francesca Villa incorporates vintage pieces with fine stones to create truly one-of-a-kind pieces. This flower ring would be a fabulous statement that would be a happy addition to my collection. I’d wear as often with a cocktail dress or jeans and a sweater. The clean lines and minimal branding of this bag are a real draw for me. The chocolate leather trim smartens up the canvas and helps it work as well in the cold months as in the summer.
Emily Farra, Senior Fashion News Writer
To Give:
My mom and twin sister love jewelry as much as I do, and I’m eyeing Yvonne Léon’s rings for both of them: the malachite signet for Liz and the croissant ring for mom. They’re investment-worthy, but still fun and unexpected—the perfect present in my book.
To Get:
I stopped by Simone Rocha’s store a few weeks ago and am still thinking about this gorgeous top. In my dreams, I’m wearing it with the matching skirt to all of my holiday parties, but it’d look just as great with jeans at the office.
Willow Lindley, Accessories and Collaborations Director
To Give:
There’s nothing better than gifting activities that bring people together, like this Metier leather backgammon set that is as pretty as it is fun for friends and family. This is one of my favorite things we put in our Vogue gift guide and it was part of Andrew Bolton’s incredible “In America” exhibition at the Met Costume Institute that opened in September. Gabriela Hearst’s craftsmanship is so beautiful and this blanket is truly a collectable. Happy shoes! We call fuzzy Birkenstocks therapy shoes in our house because it’s just impossible to not be in a good mood when wearing them. What’s better than giving the gift of feeling good?
To Get:
There is no question that my favorite thing to get as a gift is jewelry and these classic, not too classic pearl earrings from Mizuki are a great forever piece for a great price. I love to give and to receive gifts that make the ordinary extraordinary and these cups from La DoubleJ x Ladurée will turn your morning coffee or tea from a necessity into a lovely ritual (as well as serve as a moment to reflect on who gave you such a nice present).
Mark Guiducci, Creative Editorial Director
To Give:
You could be wearing black-on-black-on-black, but still look like a fun person wearing these Jacquemus shearling mittens. And for someone who you really love and whose style you really respect, consider this Bode fringe jacket—the color, the fringe, the panache…not for the faint of heart. A house is not a home without a good backgammon board. My family and I played every lockdown—though I don’t think we ever settled up on our bets. This Au Depart backgammon board will be a great addition to any space. And what did you learn from quarantine if not that you need an exceptional bathrobe? Even if no longer working from home, your gift recipient will surely appreciate this Charvet robe. Finally, socks might seem like a thoughtless gift—see, “scented candle”—but this The Elder Statesman tie-dye cashmere pair is anything but.
Tabitha Simmons, Stylist
To Give:
This is the ultimate weekender bag that looks chic, is durable, and most importantly, functional!
To Get:
I am obsessed with the delicateness of Harris Reed x Missoma’s collaboration and love that he used recycled gold in the collection. The Vampire’s Wife dresses are so stunning and fit perfectly—they can be easily dressed up or down, making it the perfect holiday look! Nothing says the holidays like a crystal-embellished headband; it’s the perfect accessory to dress up any look.
Alexandra Michler, Director of Fashion Initiatives
To Give:
Now that we are mostly back to our rigorous schedules, a carry-all to get from morning to night is essential. This Rue De Verneuil tote could double as a baby bag as a gift for a new mom. I have always admired Sara Beltran’s (designer of Dezso) natural approach to fine jewelry. This mother of pearl charm is made by Indian artisans, melded with black sapphire and rose quartz. This would be a perfect, extravagant gesture for the environmentalist in your life who has everything.
To Get:
These Vibi Venezia velvet slippers were my saving grace during quarantine—I somehow felt I had pulled myself together if I was wearing a smoking slipper. This green velvet pair would look extra cute on Christmas morning. Who doesn’t want a chic pair of gloves?! If you’re like me, you manage to misplace one each season. A cashmere, bracelet length pair (like this one from Totême) is always a well-received surprise. I am a newlywed and am very much enjoying building our tabletop collection to have for life. These artichoke dessert plates from Bordallo Pinheiro will bring a bit of whimsy to your meal. I have had my eye on this gorgeous Nili Lotan jacket for quite some time. I am very much hoping I have made the nice list this year!
Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Stylist
To Give:
I want to find someone with the exact same initials as Raf Simons just so I can gift these monogrammed earrings this season! I love a good monogram—it feels special and personal and never goes out of style (unless I suppose you change your name!).
To Get:
Venus of Willendorf, a sculpture, created around 25,000 years ago is a relic of femininity that I come back to over and over again as a source of inspiration and object that communicates the beauty and resilience of women that predates the modern beauty standards by which we are so oppressed. I have my eye on these bookends or Vase by Anissa Kermiche that reminds me of Venus herself (hint hint to any secret Santas out there)! I love classic American codes of dress—or, I love flipping them on their head. Nothing says classic Americana like a Polo and the colorways and materials subvert so much of what we expect from a Henley. I’d pair this more casual top with a cocktail skirt and these over-the-top door knocker earrings for a holiday party.
Hamish Bowles, International Editor at Large
To Give:
I love J.J. Martin’s playful and uplifting world, and I love the feel-good pops of color in these glasses. Also loving what Duncan Campbell and Charlotte Rey are doing. Here’s to more holiday toasts!
To Get:
I love a sybaritic gift, and what could be more decadent than Tom Ford’s leopard silk robe? And Charvet slippers? Very Noel Coward at home. Probably the last thing I need in my life is another cushion as you can’t get to any of my sofas—they are so heaped with them. But I couldn’t resist Walid’s upcycled versions. And Marni’s lilac stripe sweater is more me than me, don’t you think?
Liana Satenstein, Senior Fashion News Writer
This holiday, which I barely celebrate, I am getting my mom sneakers. She’s active and…hip. For my friend, I’m getting her a Batsheva top. I love Batsheva!
To Give:
To Get:
I need a new Northface puffer because I put mine in the washer and the arm deflated. I’m getting gloves because I want to channel ’90s Sharon Stone…I feel like she wore gloves back then. I won’t murder anyone with an icepick, I promise. (Basic Instinct reference.)
Janelle Okwodu, Senior Fashion and Culture Editor
To Give:
Quartz promotes healing and calm, who couldn’t benefit from that? If this coat is good enough for Lady Gaga it’s good enough for gifting.
To Get:
The message here speaks for itself. And while it’s sad to see Daniel Lee go, there’s still time to enjoy his final collections.
Sam Sussman, Director, Creative Development, Social & Visuals
To Give:
For all of my loved ones, I know it’s been hard to travel so I am gifting beach-inspired jewelry in hopes to transport them somewhere warm via accessories.
To Get:
If you know me, you know about my Zoom sweater chair. I store a selection of sweaters on the chair next to my computer and change according to the Zoom. These Acne and The Elder Statesman sweaters are at the top of my want list this holiday.

I’ve been dreaming of this Bottega bag. I love it because it will never go out of style—the shape is super classic and timeless.
