Venom 3 Movie Update Offered By Sony Producer

Sony producer, Amy Pascal, offers a status update on Venom 3, revealing that the movie is currently in the “planning stages” of development.

Sony producer Amy Pascal recently offered an update on Venom 3. The news comes on the heels of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which debuted in October. In addition to Venom (2018), Pascal is responsible for producing blockbuster hits like Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse (2018), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

When Venom: Let There Be Carnage arrived in theaters earlier this year, the highly anticipated sequel became a shocking winner of the pandemic-era box office. As of November 2021, the film has grossed over $400 million worldwide, making it the fifth Hollywood movie to top the four-century worldwide milestone since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, Sony is gearing up for the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is projected to have the biggest box office opening of any Spider-Man movie. The movie is estimated to earn between $190-250 million domestically in its opening weekend alone, meaning it has the potential to be one of the most successful releases since 2019.

Recently, Pascal offered an update on Venom 3 while speaking with Collider about the upcoming release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Though she was pretty guarded with her answer, Pascal did confirm that Venom 3 is underway, and revealed that the project is currently in the “planning stages.” Pascal’s full quote can be read below:

“We are in the planning stages right now but what we are focused on is getting everybody to come and see No Way Home.”

After Venom: Let There Be Carnage‘s bombshell post-credits scene, it only makes sense that Marvel and Sony would want to follow through with a Venom 3. Though it’s uncertain how involved Eddie Brock/Venom will be in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s clear that the MCU plans on integrating the Lethal Protector into the greater universe with its upcoming projects. However, there are several Venom-specific storylines from the comic books that have yet to reach the screen, meaning Venom/Eddie’s future doesn’t always have to have a Spider-Man tie-in. But for now, it’s safe to say that Peter Parker and Venom’s official MCU introduction will be one the most highly anticipated moments in future Marvel projects.

It’ll be interesting to see what direction creators will go in for Venom 3, and how much of the plot will rely on previous MCU storylines or characters. After Pascal’s big reveal about the future of Venom, fans can only speculate about Venom 3, as a title or tentative release date have yet to be revealed. But one thing’s for sure: fans are certainly eager to see more of Venom in the MCU, whether he’s facing off against Spider-Man or not. For now, audiences can only hope to get a glimpse of Venom in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which arrives in-theaters on December 17.
